+ Inside all of us is a wild thing. Where The Wild Things Are, one of the most beloved books of all time is coming to life. Author, Maurice Sendak, captured a child's message and Spike Jonze will throw it on the big screen. The $80-Million buck film has had a rocky road to make the box office. Originally slated for 2008, this gem was pushed to Fall 2009. What went wrong? The script got great early reviews, the teasers and trailers had people marking the date, I was drooling over the trailer! What halted it's awaited release? More than you would think! It all started when Spike held an early research screening; kids in the audience were crying and fleeing the theater--not exactly the reaction a studio would hope for. On top of that, the monsters you know from the book are full of emotion and life. Spike originally used creature suits with animated faces, as well as animatronic puppets, all of which were a big disappointment. Instead of being scary or funny, they almost seemed blank, with little warmth or emotion. Spike has retooled the film and used CGI to create more life-like monsters. Can we have more bad news please? Yes you can. On top of everything rumors spread that Spike was kicked off the film due to his terrible outcomes, all of which were entirely untrue. The studio responded saying they gave the film more time and money. Remember, this is not some studio movie. This is a very special piece of material. But fear no more! Fanatics like me can breathe a sigh of relief. Where The Wild Things Are has a set release date!! The world full of wild is alive, finished, and soon to thrive!
