+Fast. Everything in my life is going fast lately. And, it's not that I want things to slow down necessarily, but, I'd like to just stop for a second and figure everything out. That's the one problem with your final year of high school. It's not simply the stress of exams, the stress of friends, the stress of the future, because those things have a visible conclusion, a known outcome. In grade twelve, everything goes so quickly that it's hard to determine at exactly which point in time you are sitting, or going, or leaving, or about to enter. I guess what I'm trying to say is, whatever road you decide to take ... grade twelve will send you down that road as fast possible. Along the way you're going to lose friends, beliefs, preconceptions, and most importantly yourself. I think grade twelve is more than just your final year in high school but rather that it's your final year of, "not caring." From grades 1-11, you could fly through each year with a smile on your face because you never had to look out for roadblocks or challenges. It was basically just, "how do I make it to summer vacation quick and easy." In grade twelve, everything is a little bit different because everything has a consequence and a responsibility and a reward or punishment. You find out who people really are because for the first time you care about what you want from them. It's not just fun and games anymore. It's not just recess. It's not just summer vacation. Grade twelve is real life. I guess it's a shame it took so long for me to reach this point, or for me to put the car into drive, but now that I have and my foot is on the gas -- I'm actually traveling somewhere. I just wish I knew what that somewhere ... was.
Also, if that blog post was too much for you and believe me, the next one will be different.
Sincerely John,
P.S. Enjoy grades 1-11, seriously.
